I traveled to my home state of Michigan for the 4th of July. “Up North” as we Michiganders refer to it — also known as, The Cherry Capital. Can’t go to The Cherry Capital without having some cherry pie so on the way out from the airport, I stopped in at the Grand Traverse Pie Company for a bit of local goodness. Unfortunately, due to a dismal cherry crop this year and, therefore, pies made from out of state cherries, I opted instead for an apple crumb pie made from locally grown apples:
