I have been eying this artwork for several weeks now. Cherry blossoms are undoubtedly my favorite flower and have been so since I unexpectedly encountered cherry blossom season in Tokyo in my early twenties making for one of my favorite memories — the beautiful spring weather, the trees in full bloom, that breathtaking canopy of barely there pink, people strolling through the park eating corn on the cob. It was a magical birthday treat that will stay with me forever.
This stateside shot of a cherry blossom branch in bloom is printed on recycled aluminum and sparkles in the most captivating way. I normally gravitate to much more modern art but something about the print technique and subject matter keeps bringing me back to my local Mitchel Gold + Bob Williams store to visit this large beauty. Hmmmm, maybe one of these days I’ll take the plunge. There is a space above my bed just beckoning to be filled. . .
